"Garlic" Fever

I have been reading the Little House On The Prairie books to the boys, and we were at the part where Mary becomes blind because of scarlet fever. Well, the boys started asking all of the details if she would get better and how that could happen. When I thought I had answered everything I continued reading. Micah interrupts me with a worried look and asks, "Mommy, how do you get that "garlic" fever? Is it from eating too much "garlic"? I started laughing and then realized he was really concerned so I assured him the only thing that will happen with too much garlic is he will have bad breath!

We continue to read after more explanation and then Laura's dog Jack dies. We were all about in tears and I decided that we better stop reading. I not sure if I can handle all those emotions in one afternoon.
