Isaac's Big Day!

I have been beginning every day with a question for Isaac. "Do you want to wear your superman underwear?" He always would smile but decline. Well, Isaac surprised me yesterday with an answer of yes! I was shocked but thought I might as well give it a try. He had spent the weekend with his grandparents and I guess Poppa did some serious brainwashing! I will have to admit that I was pretty pessimistic since I had went this route a few months ago with no progress. We decided to do school at the kitchen table which is much closer to the bathroom then our school room and began our day as usual. After his first success, he really got into the stickers and candy. I think that he spent the first day just sitting on his potty which was great except he wanted me to be there for moral support. I had to laugh thinking about how funny we must have looked with me yelling the boys math problems while I sat on the lid of the toilet and Isaac just smiling and sitting on his little throne.

Table Talk

Well, today we woke up to our first snow. The boys were so excited and Isaac kept saying, "Christmas"! It is hard to believe that a few days ago it was in the seventies. The boys were actually shirtless and running through sprinklers on our walk. Then they decided to rake the leaves. They were busy so I went inside to catch up on some things. All of sudden I have two boys calling for me. My nose then catches a whiff of a horrible smell. I get to the top of the stairs to see a trail of leaves throughout the kitchen. Micah then tells me that Isaac threw up. I didn't ask many questions and proceeded to clean the mess and give Isaac a bath. That night at dinner the boys decide to share with us the details. I guess they thought that it would be fun to bury Isaac in the leaves. He got one in his mouth and started to gag and, well, you can figure out the rest. As we are eating, they give even greater details as to the looks of the throw up! Sometimes I think that we need to be taping dinner conversations at our house.

Hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Finally, A New Post!

I know that it has been way too long between posts when I have people asking me to please update! This one is for those of you who faithfully check it and never see much of a change. :)

Life seems to get busier and busier in our household. Between home schooling and keeping up with a rambunctious toddler, my days seem to fly by and I try to figure out what I actually accomplished. We have had a round of strep and colds in our home so that has added to the chaos.

In the middle of October, I was able to have a relaxing getaway to the Northland Ladies Heart Conference. It was so much fun to spend time with my friend Kristi and the ladies of Berean Baptist Church. I got a ride to MN and then rode to WI with them, so it was a long trip but definitely worth it. I came back so refreshed, encouraged, and challenged in my walk with God, but physically I was exhausted thanks to Kristi! :)

My parents and cousin Stevie came for a visit to celebrate Isaac's third birthday. Isaac had a blast but couldn't understand the concept of a birthday only lasting one day. We celebrated my mom's birthday and packed in many fun activities. It is always hard to say goodbye, but I am so thankful for parents who are willing to come and visit often. I think they come for the grandkids more than to see their daughter!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks again for your patience!!!

Trip to MN

The boys and I were able to go to MN for a week. This was the first time travelling alone with all three, and I will have to say that I will be waiting quite awhile before I do that again. We packed in many fun activities and had such a great time with my family. I was also surprised at how much school work we were able to accomplish and once again the boys were able to have school with their cousins. The week flew by, but we were all ready to get back and see Adam. I came home to a spotless house and flowers and the boys each got a gift. I think that he might have missed us! :)

First Day of School

I had finished the boy's school room last Thursday, so Micah begged me to start school on Friday. He couldn't possibly wait until after Labor Day so I decided to give my new schedule a run. I was just as excited as he was, and I hope our enthusiasm lasts.

We started the day off with pancakes which is the boy's favorite breakfast. Those of you in the Love family know that these pancakes have to be smothered with peanut butter on them. I have never gotten into that weird tradition but I am outnumbered in my family. Poor Isaac had a high fever and we later found out that he had a double ear infection, but he wasn't going to let that stop him from doing school with the boys. Last year he was content to just play near us, but this year he wants to participate.
The boys were thrilled with all their new supplies and books so we are ready for some exciting times in our house. It will definitely be busy!

Summer Happenings

Sorry that it has been so long since a new post. We had a great time on our vacation but have been so busy ever since. I am hoping that things will slow down but then again I am starting school with the boys the day after Labor Day, baseball starts, and the craziness begins. I don't know if I am the only one who wonders where the summer went, but I seriously am having trouble believing that it really is nearing the end of August. I guess they say that "Time flies when you are having fun" and we had our share of that!

The pictures are from VBS at our church. We were able to have our missionary friends (David & Kristi Flinck) come and teach the kids about missions and the Christian life. Our house was quite noisy that week since we had six children under the age of seven. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the time when the kiddos were in bed and the four of us could have some time to talk without interruptions. One of the pictures you will see Micah with Kaylee. He kept saying how cute she was and he was always playing with her. It was adorable to watch her laugh at all his crazy antics.

Vacation Plans

Our family is getting ready to leave tomorrow night for a family reunion in Kentucky. We are spending a week at a resort and are looking forward to some much needed R&R. We have just completed a great week of VBS and I am hoping to show some pictures of that and our vacation when I get back. The boys are so excited for this trip and our joining in on the packing. Needless to say, I am not sure what we will find in our suitcases when we get there :)

Special Days

Micah celebrated his 6th birthday recently. My parents came down and we enjoyed some time at Chuck E. Cheese's. After that we went back into Fremont and spent some time with some friends at the Fremont Lakes and did some jet skiing and swimming.

It was such a fun time seeing my parents and spending some time as a family. The pool has been such a hit. (Thanks, Mom and Dad!) I think Caleb and Micah might grow gills before the summer is done. It is hard to believe how fast the summer seems to be going by, but the times we have had sure makes for some great memories.

We took the boys out to local driving range and let them hit some golf balls. Mom and I just watched, but it sure was cute watching Isaac get all serious about hitting that ball. I think Adam and my dad get a little too serious....looking for that next Tiger I think.

An Update on the Invalid

Adam is doing much better. Thank you for your prayers and comments. He still has some time before he is back to 100%, but we are hoping life will get back to as normal as it ever is around here. Have a great week!

Prayer Request

Adam decided to give himself a Father's Day gift by getting his gallbladder removed. Actually, he is dreading the surgery since this is his first and he absolutely hates needles! The surgery is outpatient and scheduled for Monday morning so please pray that all will go well and he will recover quickly. Thanks!!

Worlds of Fun

We were able to get away for a few days and visit Adam's brother and family in Missouri. We had such a great time relaxing and enjoying some much needed family time. Isaac was Uncle David's shadow and got many rides on the lawn mower. The boys loved wrestling with their cousins and hanging on them constantly. Thank you Shelton and Ransom for being such good sports! :)

We spent Memorial Day having a picnic at the house and the boys even got to have a Moon Walk all to themselves. The next day it was off to Worlds of Fun amusement park. What a day that was! I found out that the older you get the harder the rides are on your body.

Caleb had a milestone when he went on the Boomerang which has several loops and even goes backwards. We tried to talk him out of it, but he was determined to be brave in front of his cousins. He ended up loving the ride but I was a nervous wreck seeing my little boy up there. Isaac loved all the rides and his famous words were "ME TOO!" Micah loved the driving rides and gave us a glimpse of what is in store for us when he is old enough to really drive.

We spent that evening celebrating Fallyn's birthday and playing some Settlers. The next day it was back home after a quick visit to see the Sturgills. Danielle and I attempted to cram in as much conversation as we could in one hour. We arrived home thankful for the great times and memories we shared with those we love.

Baseball Was A Hit!

This spring we had Caleb and Micah playing baseball through the YMCA. This being Caleb's second year he was "all knowing" when it came to the drill of practices and the games. Micah on the other hand was not so sure of the concept. He was really excited to play, but he is not so sure of uncertain situations and gets a bit shy. The boys and I had been in MN and had missed the first practice. Micah was all nervous about having to play a game without knowing anyone. Anyway, we got him to his first game and he goes out into the field and does fine. He comes up to bat and hits the ball and begins running the bases. He gets all the way to second and yells out to Adam and myself, "Hey, Daddy! I'm not shy anymore!" Then we go to the second game and Micah goes up to the coach and asks him, "Are you the same coach I had last time?" The coach responds, "Yes, and are you the same Micah?" Micah in turn responds, "Yes, don't you see my red hair?"

What a hit baseball has been. It was crazy going to two different games with Adam going with one to one field while I ran with the other to another field. But the boys really enjoyed it and we have had some great opportunities to interact with many people in our community. Needless to say, we are very glad it is over for now.

Recent Happenings

Sorry that it has been so long since a new post but life has been pretty busy around here. We had a Pine Block Derby a few weeks ago and the boys had a blast working on their cars. I think that they got as much paint on themselves as they did their cars. Micah's car tied with Isaac's for second place. Caleb was disappointed that he didn't get a ribbon but it was a great opportunity to teach him about good sportsmanship :)
We then had a great week of revival meetings. I came away from the week so challenged and encouraged in my walk with God. Ron and Kristin DeGarde were such a blessing to our family. I am so thankful for the opportunities we have to really get to know evangelists and missionaries that come to our church. We feel as if we have friends around the world. The last picture is of our time at a park celebrating their youngest daughter Alyssa's birthday.

Great Times

My parents were able to come for a visit during Easter and then the boys and I traveled back with them to MN. The boys' highlights were learning archery skills with Papa, school with their cousins, playing with Uncle Scott, bowling, celebrating Ellie's birthday, and lots of just plain fun. My highlights were shopping with my mom (thanks to Papa), seeing my brother and his wife, and the great times with my sister. I have such a wonderful family and am so blessed to be able to share such happy memories.

Micah's Big Step

This past Sunday Micah had the opportunity to follow the Lord in Believer's Baptism. As we were talking with him about baptism, Adam tried to help Micah understand what baptism was by explaining that it is a picture like when he would color a picture of a house. Baptism was a picture of how Jesus died for us and rose again to give us eternal life. A little later we asked him to again explain what baptism was, he said, "it is a picture...of a house!" He then realized what he had said and explained it back to us with a truer definition that sounded a bit more Biblical. :)

It was a great joy to our hearts to have the chance to hear Micah clearly express to our deacons that he understood what Jesus had done for him in forgiving him of his sins and saving him. He did a great job, even though at first he got a bit shy when he sat there in front of our men and Adam. It was a bit nerve wracking at first, but he came through with shining colors. Here are some shots of Adam and Micah in our baptismal. It was our church's first baptismal in our new facility, so he thought that was pretty special too.

Fun at the Park

The boys had done a great job in school these past few days so I decided to reward them with a picnic lunch at the park. We had a great time even though it was a little windy. The big excitement for my boys was smashing flies while we ate and then examining the remains. At that point, I began to lose my appetite so off to the playground we went. It is so great now that Isaac is older because I can actually sit back and enjoy watching them except for the occasional push on the swings. Isaac kept pretending he was leaving and would say goodbye, give me a kiss and hug, and then preceed to shake my hand. I thought at first he was copying his daddy when he leaves, but I will have to say that Adam has never shook my hand before he left. It was pretty comical to watch but the best part was when he says, "Wuv, you!" That definitely melts your heart and makes your day all at the same time.

My Three Little Men

I just had to get a shot of the boys all dressed up. Caleb had worn the other two suits and it made me a little sad thinking about how quickly they grow. Caleb is always ready for the next age, but Micah told me that he likes being five. I teased him and asked if he would stay five for me and he said, "Sure, mom but what am I going to do about all those birthdays?" If only we could figure out a way to stop them from coming.

Going for a spin

Here is some video footage of Micah's first few trips without the training wheels.

From snow to kites

We wanted to show you all what has been happening in the Love household these past few weeks. We went from a snow storm to seventy degree weather. We definitely will take the warmer weather and now we have major spring fever. The boys were able to fly kites and ride their bikes yesterday which made for a perfect day.

Micah enjoyed a huge accomplishment when he took off his training wheels and learned to ride his bike in a day. I kept telling him how proud I was of him and he said, "Mom, okay that is enough. Please don't talk about it anymore!" I guess I was a little more excited than he was. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Who knows, we may still be sending some more pictures of our next snow storm, but hurrah for the taste of spring!

New Niece

I am so excited to announce that I have a new niece. My sister delivered a healthy baby girl this past Friday. Her name is Evaline Marie Nichols and she weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 ounces and only 19 1/4 inches long. This was Lynn's fifth C-section so we are so thankful that everything went well. I wish I could have been there for the big event but hopefully I will get to see her in a few months. Grandma looks pretty proud of her new grandchild and the next picture shows Emmarie holding her new baby sister while Ellington is looking pretty bored. :) If would like a closer look log on to www.firstdayphoto.com. Click on her name and then the password is lynn marie.

Roller Skating Fun

Our home school group got together to have a party at a roller skating rink. The boys had a blast, but I will have to say that I got quite the workout from holding Micah's hand while carrying Isaac around the rink. Caleb seemed to be getting the hang of skating, but they all spent more time playing the games and trying to win the right prize out of the machine. Just being at the rink brought me back to my high school days. We used to have "Roller Rallies" once a month where all the youth groups would get together to skate and then off to Faith for the service time. I remember our youth pastor would require us to go skating so many times before we could sit and talk which is what we really wanted to do. Maybe some of you remember those days and find it hard to believe that it has been over 15 years ago. Sorry to make you all feel so old!

Future Zoologists

We came across this iguana while we were at the Botanic Gardens. Caleb and Micah kept getting a little to close to him and I was sure they were going to get hurt. Isaac stayed far away and anytime the iguana moved, he would come running to me. It sure was fun seeing this fascinating yet very ugly creature.

Down On My Knees

This was one of the songs the boys enjoyed singing one of the nights of the meetings while in the Cayman Islands. I wish that I could have taped Adam singing, "Bow The Knee" by Chris Machen and Mike Harland. I think that it is one of my favorite songs and has meant so much to Adam and I.

We are Back!

Thank you all for your prayers while we were gone. We definitely thought of you and were feeling somewhat guilty for enjoying near 90 degree weather while everyone else was going through the deep freeze. We had a great time with Grandpa and Grandma Love and their church family. We went to be a blessing and came back feeling more blessed. We were overwhelmed by the love and kindness shown to us by the believers there, and we also were encouraged by their responsiveness to God's Word.

We had a great time singing as a family on several occasions. The highlight was the last night when Isaac decided to leave the pew and follow us up to sing. He marched up to the stage and just stood there with such confidence and mouthed some kind of words while we sang. The boys enjoyed teaching the whole church "The Love of Jesus" song. If you know anything about that song it has quite the actions, so it was hilarious to see grown adults trying to follow along.

We really enjoyed our time at the beach. That sounds pretty silly, doesn't it? Like who wouldn't enjoy the beach. Caleb and Micah loved snorkeling and Isaac would call the ocean, "my ocean". If only we could own it! He was afraid of the waves at first but then had a great time wading. We were able to go to a turtle farm, botanic gardens, St. Pedros Castle, and many stores. The boys just had a blast finding lizards in the backyard. They were always on a lizard hunt. When we weren't having meetings in the evening, we were able to get some games in with Grandpa and Grandma. Too bad we had to beat you all in Skip-Bo!

For you home schoolers you will get a kick out of me packing a week's worth of school work to do while we were there. I will have to admit I must have been crazy to think that we would have time or want to do school. Oh well, no spring break for me!

I have been thinking the past several days on how good our God is. I was a little down when we were getting ready to go, thinking about how I should have been in my sixth month of pregnancy. Now, I realize that God knew that I would need this trip at that exact time in my life. The time with family was incredible as well as looking out at the ocean and realizing how that powerful and wonderful God who created such beauty loves me and desires a close, intimate relationship with me. We may not always understand His plan, but we are assured of His love and goodness. What a great God we serve!

I guess I better stop rambling and blog some pictures or Danielle will keep bugging me. :) Hope you enjoy the pictures and I will show some video footage soon.

Sledding NE's Black Diamond

Here is a view of Adam and Micah taking on one of the fierce slopes that we have here in NE. This tremendous slope is almost in our backyard! Jealous?

Isaac's Big Event

Isaac had a monumental event this week. He officially moved out of his crib and into his big boy bed. We thought that he would have a hard time but he was excited about the change. His brothers made his bed and made sure that his favorite blanket was on top. He has done great and hasn't even gotten out of bed until we come in. One of these days he will figure out that there are more exciting things to do in the room than sleep.
